Remember the phrase, "Look good, feel good?" That's one simple thing I remember to help make my travel experience a little better and so can you. I truly believe that when you look good you feel good. In the early days of air travel, people wore they're best clothes to fly. It was a special occasion that warranted dressing up. Of course times have changed and now we're more creatures of comfort when flying. But, just because we want to be comfortable that doesn't mean we have to look like we just rolled out of bed in our pajamas.
Moxie: noun [mox·ie | \ ˈmäk-sē \]
The solution: Add a little moxie to your travel uniform! Moxie The Label was created by one of my good friends, Kimberly Kianko. If you're looking for apparel that's ethically made (sweatshop free!) that also makes a bold statement look no further. The tees are so soft and oh so comfy. Wear them as a base layer or on it's own. There are also matching hoodies and hats to coordinate. Did I also mention that this label is also about giving back? A portion of proceeds from sales goes to the Child Mind Institute. It's the sure way to look cute AF while supporting a good cause and shopping ethically. You're welcome! This 'Dream Chaser' shirt is launching soon but in the meantime shop the rest of the Moxie the Label line here.
There are two things I usually consider when choosing my travel uniform. The time of day I will be traveling and what will I be doing when I land. If I'm taking a red eye flight where I'll probably just sleep the majority of the time, I'll want to dress more comfortably. Whereas if I'm flying during daylight hours I'll be more inclined to dress up. Same goes if after landing I'm expected to take part in an activity. I may have dinner with friends or planned to see the sights around town at a new place. A lot of the time I'll land before it's time to check into the place I'm staying so there's time to kill. If that's the case I'll make sure to put on something more dressy than sweatpants but still look casual. Otherwise, if it's just time to check in and hang out at the place I'm staying, you bet I'm putting comfort over everything!
Traveling also encompasses navigating various climate changes. Often we'll travel from a warm climate to colder climate and back or vice versa. Also, planes get really cold! It's a no brainer to bring along a jacket or coat you can put on or take off but I'm here to give your outfit a little bit of moxie! It's simple: just layer, layer layer! Add more layers when it gets colder and remove the layers as it gets warmer. Besides keeping your inner thermostat happy, layering allows for a versatile outfit since you can mix as many layers you want and create different combinations. Layering also saves suitcase space. There's no need to stuff your unused layers in your carry-on. As I am about to show you, you can keep all your layers on just by tying it on you when not in use.
The Rx
I've put together 2 looks that are my typical go-to's when traveling. For comfort I'll rock more of an athleisure look and a more street casual look for when I want to explore.
Look 1
I started off with a t-shirt paired with jeans as my base. As the base layer you’ll want to make sure you’re not in something that’s too hot. This t-shirt is lightweight and perfect for the warm weather. Next, you’ll want to start with your lightest layer and add thicker layers as you go. I used this plaid button down as my lighter layer. It adds a little pop of print and also gives the option of leaving it open, buttoning up, or tying it. For my thicker layer I used this over-sized cardigan. The loose fit allows for more layers underneath but I especially love how cozy it feels and looks! I like jeans for a casual look. These jeans almost feel like leggings which is important because you want to be comfortable at the same time. I like these for their deeper pockets and design. Then of course sneakers because you’re going to be on the go. I especially like wearing shoes that can slip easily on and off which makes the trip through security easier in my opinion. Unless you have pre-check and get to keep your shoes on. Good for you!

Look 2
For this athleisure look I started with this thermal long sleeve. The waffle knit and ruffle hems gives this turtleneck a little dose of cute. It's a subtle way of giving your althletic wear less of a 'going to the gym' look. As mentioned before this Moxie the Label t-shirt is great for layering too and not just as a base. Next, I threw on one of my favorite athleisure items: a down puffy vest. Not only do they provide warmth but puffy vests look good on everyone! They're good for layering too since they're typically thinner than down jackets and because they're sleeveless show off the layers underneath. I am able to show off my thermal and t-shirt while wearing the vest. I also want to rave about these Alo Moto leggings. The moto detail is a chic way to upgrade your basic black leggings. They're also comfy for travel and working out. Hats are a also a great accessory and are essential for hiding plane hair, static, bed head, etc. I chose this pink hat to give the outfit a subtle pop of color.
